updated September 24, 2008 I'm Matt Thorn, a cultural anthropologist who studies, teaches and writes about comics and other forms of popular culture. I live and work in Japan, where I'm an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Manga at Kyoto Seika University. I have also been a professional translator of Japanese comics, known as manga, since 1990. I created this site in 1996 to introduce people to Japanese girls' and women's comics, or shôjo manga (also written "shoujo manga", "shojo manga", or "shōjo manga" ), but as you can see below, I've diversified a bit. Please note that some pages are still under construction and won't be available for a while. You can now leave comments on certain pages! ¡My gallery is down and I'm still waiting for a response from support! ♠My first new manga translation in eight years (NEW!)♠ ♦Matt’s Blog!
